About the Blog

This blog aims to explore international relations and cross-cultural interaction through the lens of film. The films we will look at will range from a variety of cultures and time periods, though our discussions of theme will be united by several common themes, most notably colonial histories, political ideologies, and the influence of politics and the international climate on filmmaking and the film industry.

Frank Mondelli is an American Fulbright Fellow currently in Okinawa, Japan, studying international relations and endangered languages. He is also fascinated with sociology, education, anthropology, and is a film enthusiast.

Riana Shah is a higher education consultant, social entrepreneur, and co-founder of the internationally recognized education reform organization Independent Thought and Social Action (ITSA). She is a travel enthusiast and an explorer of international film.

Riana and Frank are both recent graduates of Swarthmore College.
